Curious to know how this site works? Considering a project of your own?
I knew nothing about WordPress initially, except that maybe it had something to do with blogs. I got some sound advice from an engineer at WorldSpice here in Memphis, did a little exploring, and three part-time weeks later it was working. If you like the look and feel of this site, understand that it literally took only a few mouse clicks to do some really cool things.
WordPress is a fantastic website platform for someone with no knowledge of, or experience at, building websites. Of course, I take full credit if and when such action may result in a lottery-type payoff, or high praise and a free meal from my mom. C’mon, I’m not stupid.
- Blogs Individual bloggers can only post to their own blog; all blogs were easily integrated into this website.
- YouTube Most videos are embedded from YouTube or other Internet sources, with native WordPress support.
- Fotki Individual photos are inserted in the pages and posts; photo albums and photo slideshows are Fotki links.
- Slideshare We support PowerPoint slideshows using Slideshare embedding.
- Google Email and calendar provided by Google.
- Inexpensive Basic WordPress service is free, but we do pay approximately $25 annually for enhanced DNS. We already owned our domain name. Everything else has been developed at no cost, with the exception of a $23 reference book (from which I got about $4 in value, I figure).
- EASY WordPress sites can be managed from anywhere. You can post at the website, with an iPhone app, or by email. It takes no previous experience. There are great how-to tutorials. They handle your backups. Its hip. Uhh, hello? I didn’t have to be hit in the head to see a perfect fit.
